Katanyxis Labs (“we”, “us”) runs katanyxislabs.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who it goes to, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. The short version: we collect only what the site needs to work, and we do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
Who we are
Katanyxis Labs is a small independent lab based in California, USA.

What we collect
When you create an account
- Your username, email address, and password. Passwords are stored scrambled (hashed), so we can’t read them.
- Your display name and anything else you choose to add to your profile.
When you post on Forum 81 BBS
- Your topics and replies, and when you posted them. Forum posts are public: anyone visiting the site can read them.
- The IP address the post was sent from. The forum software keeps this to fight spam and abuse. It is never shown publicly.
When you place an order (with an account or as a guest)
- Your name, email, billing and shipping address, phone number if you give one, what you ordered, and any order notes.
- Payments are handled by PayPal. We get a confirmation and a transaction number; we never see your card or bank details.
When you sign up for the newsletter
- The newsletter box on the sign-up form is unchecked by default. If you tick it, we save that choice along with the date and time, as a record that you agreed.
When you contact us
- Whatever you send us by email or through a contact form.
Automatically, when you visit
- Basic technical data your browser sends (IP address, browser type, the pages you request). Our host keeps this in server logs to run and protect the site.
- Cookies (see below).
We don’t ask for sensitive information like government IDs, health information, or precise location, and we ask you not to post it on the forum.
Cookies
We use cookies to make the site work:
- Login cookies keep you signed in.
- Shop cookies (WooCommerce) remember your cart and checkout.
- PayPal sets its own cookies during payment.
- Google reCAPTCHA may set cookies on pages with forms, to tell people from bots.
We also use Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) to count visits and see which pages are popular. It uses cookies and sends usage data to Google. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use your information
- To run your account and the forum.
- To take, make, ship, and support your orders, and to keep the records the law requires.
- To send the newsletter, only if you opted in. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
- To answer your messages and support requests.
- To stop spam, abuse, and fraud, and to keep the site secure.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that help us run the site, and only what they need:
- Hostinger, our web host, which stores the site and its data and keeps server logs.
- PayPal, which processes payments.
- Shipping carriers, which get your name and address to deliver your order.
- Akismet (by Automattic), which checks forum posts and comments for spam. It receives the post content and the name, email, and IP address of the poster.
- Google Analytics, which receives usage data (pages viewed, browser type, and approximate location based on IP address) so we can see how the site is used.
- Google reCAPTCHA, which checks forms for bots. Google’s privacy policy and terms apply to it.
- The email service we use for the newsletter, which receives only the email addresses of people who opted in.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business (in which case this policy would still apply to your data).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as California law defines those terms.
How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Account and profile | Until you delete your account |
| Forum topics and replies | Until you or a moderator deletes them. When you delete your account, your topics and replies are deleted with it. |
| Orders and payment records | At least 4 years after the order, because California tax rules require it. This applies even if you delete your account. |
| Newsletter consent record | While you are subscribed, plus 2 years after you unsubscribe, as proof of consent |
| Emails and support messages | Up to 2 years after the conversation ends |
| Server logs | For the short period set by our host |
| Backups | Deleted data can stay in backups for up to 30 days before it is overwritten |
Your choices
- Edit your profile any time from your Profile page.
- Turn the newsletter off any time on your Profile page, or use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.
- Delete your account by requesting it on the Help us improve page (you can also tell us why you’re leaving, which is optional), or by emailing us. We confirm the request by email, then delete your account and personal data using WordPress’s built-in privacy tools.
- Get a copy of your data by emailing us. We will send you an export of the personal information we hold about you.
- Fix something wrong by editing your profile or emailing us.
We answer requests within 45 days, and usually much sooner. To protect your account, we may ask you to confirm the request from the email address on the account. Some records, like orders we must keep for tax purposes, can’t be deleted until the retention period above ends, but we will tell you if that applies.
Your California privacy rights
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and get a copy of it.
- Delete personal information we collected from you.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We don’t sell or share it, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you can still ask.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We don’t collect or use it for anything beyond running the site.
- Not be treated differently for using any of these rights.
The CCPA’s formal requirements apply to larger businesses, and we may not meet those thresholds. We give these rights to everyone anyway, wherever you live. To use them, email Adam@katanyxislabs.com. You can also have an authorized agent make a request for you; we may ask for proof that they have your permission.
Shine the Light: we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: we don’t track you across other websites. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of sale or sharing, which we already don’t do.
Children
This site is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords, and we limit who can access the site’s data. No website can be perfectly secure, so we can’t promise that nothing will ever go wrong. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you as the law requires.
Where your data is processed
Our host and service providers may store and process data in the United States and other countries.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also post a notice on the site or email account holders.
